While the summer officially ended with the equinox on the 21st Wellfleet still has one last big hurrah in the 2010 Wellfleet Oysterfest before it quiets down for the offseason. Every year in Mid-October Wellfleet holds the Oysterfest which is organized by S.P.A.T. a local non-profit which among other things gives scholarships to local college students. This year it is taking place on October 16th and 17th. Last year the weather was uncooperative, to say the least, but there were still a very large number of people who came. I’ve heard the attendance figures ranging from 8 to 20 thousand in various years. Truthfully there is no way of knowing how many people attend because the Oysterfest is free and open, i.e., no gates so people come and go and there is no way to count them all. Last year Sam Adams created a special brew just for the oysterfest, there is great food, live bands, kids activities and events throughout the day. Needless to say, we highly recommend the event. Remember that if you are having company and would like a hand cleaning your house before or after just give us a call, and we would be more than happy to help you out.
