The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is the state’s preeminent cycling event. Over 5,000 riders partake in the race. There are one day and two-day routes many of which end in Provincetown and pose a serious endurance challenge to even seasoned riders. The Pan-Mass challenge raises money for the Jimmy Fund. The Jimmy Fund supports pediatric and adult cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Not riding? Be sure to check in with the local police departments about impacted roads & closures and plan accordingly.
Founded in 1991 the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman’s Alliance has quickly become an integral part of Cape Cod’s small day-boat based fishing community. Their mission is to create economic development initiatives to ensure that small-scale fishing is always a part of our community’s tradition and legacy. They fund research into fishing stocks, provide loans to the fishing fleet, provide business planning, technical assistance, and most crucially quota leasing. In doing so they play a major part in helping to manage the local fish stocks & sustaining Cape Cod’s day-boat fishing. The Hooker’s Ball is one of their major fundraising events and one of Chatham’s premiere summer social events. There is live music, locally sourced seafood, silent auctions, and of course dancing. This event always sells out so tickets must be purchased in advance and are $150.
